Squeak in the chassis or suspension

I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 LS that the chassis or suspension is squeaking that I need to lubricate I have two questions. Does anyone know how many grease fittings are on this model of truck? Second, I have some lithum grease at home that is rated at NLGI 1.5 but the owners manual recommends NLGI #2. Will the multipurpose lithium grease do any damage to my suspenstion components if I use it?

Re: Squeak in the chassis or suspension

there is about 11-14 fittings dependong in the 2wd or 4wd/ (upper and lower ball joints) tierods idler arm. The most comally missed is the one on top of idler arm

Re: Squeak in the chassis or suspension

Thanks it is a 2wd swb single cab. The only thing is I cant tell if the squeaking is coming from the front or rear of the truck. I don't remeber there being any lube points on the rear or if it is the springs or bushings that are making the noise.

Re: Squeak in the chassis or suspension

My 2000 Silverado Reg Cab has squeak from the rear leaf springs. From what I have read this is common. I just spray WD-40 on bracket that wraps arounds leaf springs. This bracket is on the front side of the springs midway between the axle and front hangers. This will last for a few months and it will come back.
