I've been curious of this for quite a while. i read somewhere that c10's are some of the heavier production half ton trucks.

Re: what is the average weight of a c10
I believe they weigh in about the same as a new camaro so somewhere between 4100 and 4400 depending on options and equipment. If I'm incorrect on any of this info anybody feel free to correct

Re: what is the average weight of a c10
My 87 longbed, silverado-full trim and all options, 305, 700r4, lightest duty suspension weighed about 4300lbs with one full tank of fuel.
That VS my 3/4 ton, my 3/4 ton is about 5100lbs. longbed, scottsdale trim, some options, 350, th400, heaviest duty suspension parts except for sway bar and front springs and with a half tank or so of fuel. Last edited by 78 Chevyrado; 11-10-2010 at 09:29 AM. |

Re: what is the average weight of a c10
An old thread I know but this kind of surprised me. I would have figured that my 85 short bed C10 would have been alot heavier than my 93 short bed step side. Both 2wd and regular cabs. Seems like they are pretty close to the same.

Gotta remember, the newer the truck, the more options, insulation, safety, and other equipment there is. Like said, we have new cars that weigh as much as old trucks... The old trucks might be mostly steel but they were also lacking a lot of comforts we have today.

I had thought of that but still thought my 93 with the fiberglass bed sides would be lighter by more than that. You are probably right though with all the extra insulation etc. that they have. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: what is the average weight of a c10
My '77 Silverado Shortbox was 4380 at the recyclers with me in it, and a full tank of gas. Or it might have been two tanks. I can't remember.
