ECE Gas Tank Install Question

Has anyone installed ECE's rear mounted gas tank. I want to do the install on mine myself and am wondering if I need a flaring toll ( they are on sale this week at a local parts store) to flare the gas lines before I hook it up.

The only time you need a flaring tool is if you shorten an existing length if fuel line, its sold 2 ways.

In streight lengths from 1' on up to about 5 or '6' with flairs and threaded male nut allready on them. this line is hard er to shape and ya need a tubing bender for tighter bends.
The other option is a coil of softer fuel line that is a little easyer to bend by hand, it comes in 25' lengths, probably 20' and 30' lengths as well. This stuff ya need a flaring tool for so you can cut it to length, ya need to buy the threaded flair nut, slide it on then use the flaring tool.

I plumbed in my tank using the streight length stuff, i used 3 pieces of varing lengths and custom bent each length, used female couplers to thread them together

this is how i decided to do mine. I cost more but i think it was easier because i did not have a bender or flaring tool

Thanks for the pics and advice. I dont own those tools either so I guess I'll do what you did with your tank, use the braided lines. Is that a fuel filter you have in the line ?

Re: ECE Gas Tank Install Question

Which ever way you do it definantly use enough hanger loops to keep the line from chaffing against anything.

Re: ECE Gas Tank Install Question

there is a small red pre filter and an inline fuel pump. I will be running efi. I haven't installed my main filter yet and as the previous post said put plenty of clamps to hold in place. I will be adding at least one between each one I have installed now
