1972 body swap
Hello to all !
Looking for some advice here............I'm contemplating swapping a 1972 cab and front clip on a 1989 Chevy 4X4 short wheelbase chassis and I want to keep my sportside box and engine, transmission and transfer case. Anybody out there already done this and exactly what's involved regarding mods to chassis and/or 72 cab? Do the body mounts line up or would they have to be relocated on my chassis? I assume I would need a high hump floor in the cab ? Any info and advice would be greatly appreciated..... also any pictures available of finished products???? Thanks |

Re: 1972 body swap
I'm interested in this also. I purchased a 90 4x4 long bed regular cab with the intention of swapping an extra 69 body I have on to it. I believe the cab will have to sit pretty high because the newer frames dip down where the cab sits and the 67-72's do not but I haven't really seen anything specific about it. Maybe someone has some pics of one already done?

Re: 1972 body swap
Thanks for the heads up on the list. Lots of great info in the various How-To-Do list and I will make sure that I go back over it again. However
I didn't see anything that pertained to my future project. I am using all 89 4X4 running gear and chassis and sportside box. So what I need to know is how involved is it to use a 72 cab and front clip on what I have. Anybody else have any ideas on what is required???? I love this site !:chevy Last edited by Garys57; 11-20-2010 at 04:20 PM. |
