exhaust ?
I'll be installing a 454 at some point.
and after the exhaust falls off, I was thinking of changing from the everyday 2.5 duals, to headers with a 3" y pipe to a 3" muffler(between bed and frame) to a oval tailpipe out the pass side in front of the wheel(rear) {ala nascar} how much louder is this single 3" gonna be over 2.5 duals.. it out the pass side is so it's not at my ear.. I'm thinking for noise control the 3" mufflers gonna have to be kinda long.. might even run the pipe through the frame and weld in a renforcement ring seems the single 3" will be lighter and cheaper than running duals out the back.. may do duals out both sides.. but with the truck in the left lane and barking off the jerzy barrers.. might be a tad loud |

Re: exhaust ?
All other things being equal (and they seldom are), I don't see any particular reason why a single exhaust will necessarily be louder than duals. It really depends on the mufflers you choose more than anything else. If noise is your main worry, run the pipe over the axle, which will make a big difference inside the truck.
