Re: Scum1's 63
nice.
I like the long bed cut down to a short, the wheelwells are bigger, which looks better to me when they are slammed. dash looks nice -uncut radio+guages!

Re: Scum1's 63
i got a couple questions though..in this first pic you can see quite a bit of shims in the upper control arm, is that normal? was that done for alignment purposes and should i reinstall them?
second pic- you can see that there is a bolt missing in the uca mount to the frame. it is the same on the other side. the hole doesnt match up anyway, should i loosen the others up and maybe drill it out and put a bolt thru? |

Re: Scum1's 63
That missing bolt is where the one hole needs to be drilled when switching the suspension crossmembers. Apparently whoever installed that crossmember was being lazy. It appears that you have a '71-'72 front suspension and crossmember.

Re: Scum1's 63
oh $%^..i was told that the x member was pulled from a 73+
what caught your eye as to the 71-72 specific year. edit: ah steel bushings vs rubber. im an idiot. well i re ordered some parts turns out lower ball joints, adjusting sleeves and idler arm will fit both 71-72 and 73-87. so i need new upper bj and tie rods. <hand on forehead> oh well Last edited by scum1; 02-04-2011 at 02:33 PM. |

Re: Scum1's 63
The dust shields behind the rotors is another indication of the year of the suspension. The '71-'72's are different than the '73-'87's.
You might want to double check on those lower ball joints. I'm pretty sure the '71-'72 lower's are different than the '73-'87's. I believe the uppers are the same though. Edit: looks like I had that backwards. The lower ball joints are the same. It is the uppers that are different. Sorry.

Re: Scum1's 63
I never knew the dust shields were different.
Captainfab,... do you have any pics of the differences?
