Fuel Tank Strap Replacement on Fleetsides
I removed my tank for flushing and both straps broke, so I need to replace them. LMC and Classic Industries along with a few others sell the straps by themselves. The original straps are riveted to the brackets, which I do not need to replace.
I'm assuming I have to grind out the 3 rivets on each bracket to install the new ones with bolts??? Has anyone ever done this?

Re: Fuel Tank Strap Replacement on Fleetsides
i was lucky enough that when i pulled my tank the straps were in good shape. but in this situiation it would be best to weld the new straps on the bracket as bolts have the chance of becoming loose over time, another option would be to put in new rivits.

Bolt heads may wear holes in the bottom of the tank. Like bucannon said, be best to weld them on IMO.

Re: Fuel Tank Strap Replacement on Fleetsides
I replaced mine with bolts. The head of the bolts dont stick up past the ridge on the bracket. I did put a small piece of rubber above the head of the bolts to give it some cushion just in case though.

Yes, that's what I'm going to do. I appreciate the input, folks.
