mechanical gauge hookup on a 292 inline 6
Where can i hook up mechanical gauges on a 292. I would rather not loose the idiot lights. I see a pipe plug on the lower rear, drivers side of the block. Maybe that is oil pressure? As far a water temp the only spot i see is where the current light is hooked up. I can loose that if i have to, but will the sending units probe fit in there? Thanks, Luke

If you want to keep the idiot lights just buy some pipe tee's available at a auto parts store.

I used the Oil Pressure idiot light output on the passenger side for the oil pressure sender. The mechanical temperature sender is in the head, forward, on the drivers side. I also have a tap into the inake plenum for Manifold Pressure (Vacuum). My idiot lights atre disconnected. Tach gets a connection to the coil negative terminal.

I used a tee and ran a mechanical gage on one and a oil pressure swich to the other. I also wired a seatbelt buzzer from a 76 nova to the idiot light. If you lose oil pressure, the buzzer will tell you before your bearings will lol
