You can check www.chevytalk.org They have forums categorized by year so maybe there will be something over there for you. I have a 55 210 so I'm on www.trifive.com a lot, maybe something over there may interest you also.

GM considered them trucks according to their sale materials. El Caminos where also trucks.

GM marketed them as trucks, but mechanically, they were 100% car.

Re: 1951 chevy sedan delivery car or truck?
I'm sure there were alot of interchangable parts and I'd agree that the front clip was car but the suspensions were heavier than the car versions and the GVW what heavier than a car. The seats were not car or the tires. We can call it what ever we want but the maker should know what they built and call lt what they want to which was a truck.

Sedan Delivery=car
Panel=truck No matter what the manufacturer wants to CALL it. Some of that was done for licensing and tax reasons. |

All sedan deliveries were the same exact chassis as the station wagon.

Re: 1951 chevy sedan delivery car or truck?
I think the factory considered these as "Commercial Vehicles" likely to be used for delivery or small business needs.
Motor vehicle registration would consider these as cars and not trucks. When I registered my '54 Suburban, the clerk registered it as a van. When I asked to have it corrected I was told that they did not have a code for suburban from that year. TW |

Re: 1951 chevy sedan delivery car or truck?
Looks just like my old 51 CAR from back in 1961, and nothing like my 51 pickup I'm working on now.

Re: 1951 chevy sedan delivery car or truck?
They are definately 100% station wagon without windows. No heavier duty than a wagon.
Sales lit did consider them commercial, but they were not trucks..... |

Re: 1951 chevy sedan delivery car or truck?
Definately car, no matter what dmv or sales brochure says. The name says it all, SEDAN delivery, built on car platform, as opposed to panel TRUCK, built on truck platform.
