72 Steering Wheel Horn, Blue or Yellow?

I'm starting to play with the idea of locating an original steering wheel for my 72 to replace the Grant steering wheel that I thought was the coolest thing on the planet in high school 10+ years ago. What is the deal with the chevy emblem being blue on some horns and yellow on others?

Re: 72 Steering Wheel Horn, Blue or Yellow?

Pretty sure here, blue was the 69-72 correct horn cap. The ochre (yellow) bowtie caps were for 73+ vans. Trevor

73 - 76-ish trucks had the same wheel as 69 - 72, but with the yellow bow tie too.

Re: 72 Steering Wheel Horn, Blue or Yellow?

I purchased new horn cap from LMC and it came with a blue bowtie. The used steering wheel i purchased had a blue bowtie. I've never seen a yellow one. That is something I learned.

I should have said in addition to the vans...
and now I am second guessing myself on it. I swear I saw one in a 73 or so truck... can anyone confirm this?

At some point in the last 40 years the button probably been changed. Chevy trucks did not get any yellow trim until 1973.

Re: 72 Steering Wheel Horn, Blue or Yellow?

cool, i was mistaken. I know I've seen a couple, but they are old and parts swappage is common.
I do know the vans had them, and I agree that 69 - 72 all had blue bow ties, yellow never showed up till 73. Its the same thing on hub caps and console lids and trim/badges.
