Engine Paint To Match Body Color?

I want to paint my engine the same color as the body. I have seen many different methods but what is the correct one?

Primer?
High Temp?
Longevity?

Thanks for any response!

Re: Engine Paint To Match Body Color?

Im not sure there is just "one" way to do it other than have everything super clean. I used normal black epoxy and base coat, clear coat.

Re: Engine Paint To Match Body Color?

I did pretty much the same thing. I had some leftover acrylic enamel that I'd had custom mixed and put into spray cans. With a freshly cleaned engine I masked, sprayed and simply let it cure. It still looks great two or three years on now.

Talking Re: Engine Paint To Match Body Color?

Paint it the same color as the truck. Figure the truck motor shouldn't get over 250 degrees, and paint doesn't start to burn until it's way hotter than that. No problem...

Re: Engine Paint To Match Body Color?

I paint a lot of engines. Prepping the block is the most important. One coat of epoxy. 2 coats of base/clear. Always let materials flash in between coats... Not allowing it to flash can cause much bigger problems then runs in the clear. You can get solvent pop and die back which means you'll get to repaint at least part of it etc.
