New guy saying hello...

Thought I would take a minute or two to say hello. My name is Richard and I live near Macon, Georgia. I work on the main lines in the cable industry. I have been wanting a 67-72 Chevy for years now finally had the money and pulled the trigger on the 72 Chevy Cheyenne Long bed that you see below. So I been reading the board for a couple of weeks now absorbing info and starting some work on a long project. My immediate plans are to just get her very dependable and make her a daily driver. Long term is redoing everything gonna make it a nice mix of old and new form and function. I don't think I did too bad for 2200 bucks.

I bought it from the orginal owner. He said the motor was rebuilt about 10 years ago but other than that just repaired what needed to be repaired. The only reason he sold it was because he can't drive anymore and he has just been cranking it a couple times a week for the last two years. He said he couldn't see it sit and rot away and wanted someone that would put it back on the road and show it TLC. The pictures were from my phone so you can't see it but there is one spot on the passenger side cab corner that is rusted up pretty good but not through or anything. The paint has surface rust but nothing through or anything. On the bed fender on the drivers side there is some bondo where the guy had road chains on back in the day and they snapped and he repaired it. So I'll probably replace to get it straightened out. I drove it home and and could tell the carb needed a rebuild I took it off and took it to the local carb expert. He said it was too far gone to rebuild. So I went and got a Edelbrock 1406 that I should be done putting on tomorrow. Also went ahead and got and HEI from Skip White and put that in cause I want it to be reliable as a daily driver. Tomorrow afternoon I am running it up to put some new tires on it cause the one's on it are like three different kinds and dry rotted. Then I gotta figure out why the fuel gauge isn't working.

Yes I have been feeling it already. The wish list is longer than my arm and all the little incidentals are adding up too. Plus I don't have a garage to work in so where you see it sitting in this pic is where I work on it at. Garage is certainly on the list. Like I always say you can't take it with you!
