I need a 2wd 63-66 Pitman Arm

Anyone have one laying around the garage?

I ultimately will upgrade to a newer power steering box.

But right now I don't feel safe driving it as is.
It feels like it's about to fall out.

I have a couple sitting in the garage....I will snag some pics tomorrow morning. Are you wanting a power steering steering pitman arm or standard? They are a bit different

Re: I need a 2wd 63-66 Pitman Arm

Manual Steering.

I'm heading out to Pick-N-Pull tomorrow - they have a couple 60's trucks out there.
I'm also going to try and pick up the power steering stuff off a 73-87 truck while I'm out there. So I'll have it for the future upgrade.

I'll post back here if I find all I need.

Thanks,
Robert

If it wouldn't be too difficult; could you please get a rough dimension center to center on both those arms?

Thanks,
Robert

Both arms are the same dimensions. One has a part number of GMT 6272424 on it. I measure 1 1/8 in between the teeth. 1 1/4 ridge to ridge. Does that help?

Re: I need a 2wd 63-66 Pitman Arm

Actually, I would like you to give me a rough center to center measure.
I found something interesting
regarding the pitman and idler arm.
I'll end up starting a thread with pics.
It's interesting because I thought it would
be a good idea to pull both the idler and pitman off the same truck at Pick-N-Pull.
The radius from center on the Pitman arm
is about 3/8" less than the Idler arm, even
though they came from the same truck.

Re: I need a 2wd 63-66 Pitman Arm

Like I said, I will be starting a thread to discuss this oddity, but here is a pic of what I'm talking about;
the pitman and idler are off the same late 70's truck:

Edit; from the pic it looks as if I don't have everything lined up just so;
but I do, it's just a perspective issue from the camera view.

From center to center I measure roughly 5 3/8ths. Sound about right?

Re: I need a 2wd 63-66 Pitman Arm

Update:
I just went ahead and upgraded to power steering,
the old pitman arms were pricey, I figure just spend the extra and go power:

Just in case someone stumbles across this thread looking for a 63-66 pitman arm,
here is the best price I found: ( $42.92 - Part # K-6086 )

Re: I need a 2wd 63-66 Pitman Arm

I have got a new manual pitman arm from CPP that I would sell for $30.00. They sent me the wrong one when I ordered the grand slam kit and other parts and by the time I got to installing it they wouldn't do right by me and exchange it for what it was supposed to be, so I still have it. You would think you spend $3000 with a company that they would fix their mistake!

Re: I need a 2wd 63-66 Pitman Arm

The cheapest I could find new was around $45.
I struggled at Pick-N-Pull for an hour trying to get one off.
I finally said forget it, and went and pulled the power box and all off a 79.
I got Captainfab's adapter plate, and I'm all upgraded to power now.

Post a pic of it.
The pitman arm looks different between the two.
