Anyone ever try to instal a 67-72 bench seat cover on a later seat?

I would love to have one of those older houndstooth style covers in my 1980...

Are the seats the same size??

I think the older seats are a little narrower (perhaps), but they are rounded at the top of the seatback. It looks like a trip to the upholstery shop is going to be in order.
