Re: 4x4 conversion
I wouldn't try it personally. Just too much work. If you do just find a similar year 4x4 chassis.

Re: 4x4 conversion
Add leaf springs and frame hanger brackets on the frame in the rear and extend the brake lines and park brake cables.
remove all front suspension and engine crossmember. install a 4x4 crossmember, spring hangers and get leaf springs and an axle for the front. Extend and modify brake lines as needed. Get and install a 4x4 steering box and modify the frame as needed. Install a transmission and transfer case, Cut out the floor and put in a high hump floor panel, and get driveshafts as needed. adjust driveline angles. set ride-heights. This is just a Very Very Quick run down of some of the major key points. I know I'm missing a lot of stuff here, like the 2wd driveshaft center support, etc... I just love fabrication work and modifying stuff though. It all depends what you have access to as far as parts and tools, your skill level, etc. If it was me, I'd be all over converting! Ya learn a lot, too.

Re: 4x4 conversion
id go with the first few guys. fina a 4x4 frame and drive train and start swapping your body over and then lift it. easyest and probably cheapest way to do it in the long run.

Re: 4x4 conversion
Here is a link to my build. Kind of a readers digest version, but you will get the idea. Its alot of work! You will hate the mere sight of rivets!
