Plug wire layout ?

Finally getting serious about my 68 build. Got engine/transmission in and cab
painted and set.
I need your pictures of what different styles of routing plug wires.
My engine is a new 350 crate with the wire brackets attached to tops of
vale covers.
Not sure I want wires over valve covers, but wanted to see what you all have done.
I also have a set of earlier valve covers without the brackets, so I can go either way.

Re: Plug wire layout ?

Here's how I did mine, and how it looks. Used HEI plug wires for a 75 Vette, smallblock. Bought them at NAPA. Sorry, don't have the part #. Routed them the same as first pic, only they're for HEI, and not standard ignition. Please pay no attention to the rusted exhaust mainifolds or the rusted master cyl. Those are being taken care of. Hope this helps?

Looks good Dan.
Are those preformed wires ? or did you make them ?
They are longer than over top of valve cover right ?

Re: Plug wire layout ?

I'm a big fan of running the plug wires out the back and under the headers.
It saves me time to run the rack for a quick adjustments and makes every thing look clean.

Re: Plug wire layout ?

This is what I do with the plug wires on the HEI's. The wires are separated using wire ties. These are Standard PN 6870 wires with straight boots.

Jim
The part number is GM ?
Looks like a straight boot to plug works best.
I can't tell from pic, is there a stand off support away from engine ?
Thanks for the info Jim.

Actually, there's 3 different plugwire stands IIRC? I got mine from GMCPaul. I'm sure most, if not all of the vendors on the board would have them? There's 1 on each side at the rear, 1 down by the oilpan on each side, and then 1 up by the front plugs on either side. (6 total) Hardest part is getting up the gumption to do it. Hope this helps?

Re: Plug wire layout ?

The hidden wires looks really good. I wonder if it will work with a 4X4. The engine is so close to the firewall. Doug

Re: Plug wire layout ?

Bought a wire set from Napa today, as OhioDan recommended. Under manifold type and attachment to the HEI.
Now where do I find rear support separators ???

No, I do not have the part #'s for the plug wire brackets. I called one day and talked to someone working there,(not Paul) and told him what I was looking for.(stock plug wire stands) He found exactly what I needed.

Not sure what year/model it is for, but it is GM. And it is a Chevrolet. Originally, there was a black one from an earlier rebuild, and it came back at an angle from up around the alt. jam bolt, back to a bolt/stud on the intake. But I liked the chrome one cause it looked a little sportier and bought it. It was at some speed shop. It's not chrome original equip.
