Rear window defrosters/Rear Heaters (Suburban content)
I have seen tailgate and barn door suburbans with defrosters in passing...any pictures? Just another switch on the dash? (like rear tailgate/rear AC etc) It must be a rare option.
Also, what is the rear aux heater in a suburban look like? I have never seen one before. I have seen the dash switch for one, but never the equipment in the back. Does it tuck up with the Rear AC? Can you have rear AC and heater? Just curious... Blake |

Re: Rear window defrosters/Rear Heaters (Suburban content)
My '91 GMC SLE Suburban had all of it, but the previous owner removed the rear heat and the ac. The rear defrost on the back doors was still there and working but it was absolutely ugly, I hated it! The switch is on the dash kinda like where the rear window switch would be.
I didn't take any pictures of the rear defrost though. |

My 1990 Silverado Burb has rear defroser in the tailgate glass, but no rear heat. Wire is busted going to it so I don't know if it works yet. I hope to get the wire sliced tonight, so I will know soon if it works

Any luck?
What does it take to make a defrosting glass setup? (besides the correct glass...) Is it just 12 volts into that wire? |

You actually should have a timer relay as well. I will check my tailgate tonight to see how many wires are going to it. I think there is 1, but I would thing it needs a ground somewhere to complete the circuit.

Power to the glass on the drivers side and grounded on the passengers side.

Re: Rear window defrosters/Rear Heaters (Suburban content)
my old 89 had rear heat, its a radiator box with a fan on the right side of the floor in the very back with a switch above the rear air switch. my new 90 had the rear defrost barn doors and the switch is in the same place.
