Hi! Just thought i would introduce myself as i just joined the site. My name is Jay and we are finally getting around to working on a 1970 Shortbed Stepside project my Dad bought 2 years ago! This will be the second father/son project for us. The first was my '55 Chevy 2 Door Belair Sedan we did back in 1986. i still have it and the old truck will be for Dad to put around in. We have it mostly tore down and the bed is currently at the media blaster. Dad wants it hot rod satin black (for some reason!) so thats what i ordered. it has a 350 with a 4 speed manual and a 3.73 open rear. hope to eventually get a posi unit in it. Dad hasnt driven a 4 speed in quite awhile and is worried he wont like it (he just turned 70!) but i think we will go with it for now. i do have a 700r4 if it doesnt work out. i have rounded up alot of parts in the past 2 years but i am still looking for a few things. We need a good front stepside bed panel, a passenger side inner fender well, and 1 red rear deluxe side marker light. im sure their is more we will need but thats what i know of for sure! lol! well thats all for now and im sure i will be pestering you guys for info as we move along in the build. Thanks in advance! JAY

Welcome from a newbie. Sounds like a good project (the satin black idea is a good one to me). Enjoy the time with your dad.
