What is this and what to do about it
Hey everyone I am buying this truck from my father in law in about two weeks and had a question for everyone. The motor is a small block 350 V8. That might not matter much though. Anyways their is a golf tee sticking out of a hose that looks to be connected to the carburetor. I dont like it and any suggestions of what it is and what to do with it.

Re: What is this and what to do about it
Hey veritas20, I can not see the picture real clear but it appears to be in the vacuum advance port that should connect to the distibuter. Not sure if it is required on your set up or not. If not, you can get a vacuum "cap" or plug at any auto parts store. I think there are a couple of different sizes, so make sure to get the right one.

Re: What is this and what to do about it
It may well be a golf tee. It is there to plug an unused vacumn line. If you like you can pickup caps at the parts store for these ports.

I like the golf tee. I use bolts myself, but the golf tee is more stylish.

Re: What is this and what to do about it
That's pretty funny someone used a gold tee to plug a vacuum hose!

Re: What is this and what to do about it
I can't see the Pic well but if it's a Rochester, That's the vacuum advance port. Probably means your vacuum module is either hooked in to manifold vacuum or nothing at all.
I prefer to go with ported vacuum advance. |

Re: What is this and what to do about it
I did not look closely at the picture but there have been educated posts on the vacuum advance to distributor and take the time to see if your distrib, advance is hooked up and operational , it allows better drivability around town . I am not a great guy to talk on the subject but the advance comes on sooner and allows better fuel economy and improved performance as far as accelerating from a stop and in and around town were the vehicle might generally be used . Please look into it and someone here might forward the facts that might better describe the need ,.

Re: What is this and what to do about it
get a golf ball and glue it to the tee// turn a putter into an oil dipstick and a driver for the tranny fluid
then you'll have a theme truck

LOL! Then make sure to wear some hideous plaid pants and socks and one of those golf hats with the big fuzzy balls on it any time you drive your truck!

Re: What is this and what to do about it
I used a pen once, a pencil another time, and bolts too many time to count. Who has time to run to the parts store to buy real vacuum caps.......prrrrfffttt!

Re: What is this and what to do about it
That's a vacuum port block off. VW uses them from factory. It's a Golf part.
