Re: Carb issues!
I had an Edelbrock that would not start on my Son's truck. The truck would try if I poured gas down the carb, so it was the fuel supply. The fuel pump was working, also. Since it was cold, I just went to the local store and got another one, because I was not about to freeze the noogies off trying to make it work in the cold. After getting older carb on the workbench I found that the needles were stuck hard to their seats and I had to pull them out of the holes with a pair of needlenose pliers. I communicated this to the Edelbrock techs and theysaid that they had not witnessed that phenomenom before, but then they live in Southern California, where it is warm ALL OF THE TIME.
I think that their needles and seats are somewhat affected by the alcohol that is in the gas and when it gets cold they stick. Just an assumption on my part. Of course when it is high dollar gas, everyone wants to get it as cheap as possible, so there is a good chance of water in the gas.

Re: Carb issues!
thanks
i goggled....issues with an edelbrock carb... Found out they suck in the cold and blow in the hot summer time. For the heat problems edelbrock sells a carb spacer Well the cold, for cranking problems use starter fluid. I used the starter fluid and the truck cranked up! Cant wait to go EFI with it soon so i can send that carb back with a bullet hole threw it...of maybe take a sledge hammer too it.. |
