Headlights Upgrade. What Say Yee?
Now that I've got the LED's Tail/Cargo lights on order from Reumster what do you all recommend for upgrading my headlights. What should I consider when selecting an upgrade in headlights?
I await the answers from those with more knowledge then I. |

I got bosh halogen h4's on the 69 and the monte with the cool blue ultra white bulbs, cant go wrong with those!

There are lots of great headlamp coversions out right now. I carry the APC, Toucan, Hella and Pilot conversions for the 67-72 trucks. I also carry the new HID H4 bulbs. They are available in high watt or standard watt versions.

Hey, I like dogs I can pet not punt! hehehe just kiddin' with ya.
The Xenon bulbs are the type that I carry. You will have to readjust your headlights (a little lower) if you use these type of bulbs and you should not have any problems. I am currently using 100 watt bulbs in my fog, low and high beam lights on my lifted 2000 WJ and have not had anyone "flick their lights at me yet. The Xenon bulbs are not really High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights. They cost much less than HID's but give off the same whitish/blueish tint instead of the halogen yellow. |

I say that I have Hella conversion housings in my blazer, one is cracked, I've had them for close to 3 years now, I love them, I've ran 4 or 5 different H4 bulbs, I'm buying Streat beat tribar blue dot housing soon, they're the best looking housing available.

Due to my voltage regulator taking a crap, and blowing my high beams, I just sadly replaced them with APC H4 bulbs. I'd like to get either the new Silvana Silver series bulbs, or some Hiper Industries.

shoot i drove my 70 last nite for the first time in months and could barley see the road with its original headlights.
so looks like i am going to up grade to better lights too.

I have the 7" round h-4 conversion headlights (see pic below)
for 47.00 a pair plus shipping. Bulbs not included. I have the h-4 Xenon regular watt bulbs for 13.64 per pair and the high watt xenon for 15.59 per pair plus shipping.

I saw a show truck a while back that had headlights from a Jaguar. They were really clear. They looked great.

I went to Wal-Mart and picked up a set of sylvania "cool blue" lights for my 4x4......it was like the difference between night and day compared to my old Wagner Halogens.....I love them, best headlights out of the 5 vehicles I have running right now.

Bill,
Yes they will work with the stock wiring harness, it is a plug and play deal and you're done. There is no need to splice any wires on you stock harness. I will say though, if you decide to go with the high wattage bulbs, I would watch your wiring closely to make sure it is not getting warm. I recommend upgrading your light harness if you decide to go with the high watt bulbs. I am still looking into the GMC conversion. I am making progress on it. I have the light conversion part and one set of bulbs that will work. I am still trying to figure out the lo beam portion of it. If there are any local GMC's that want to upgrade, PM or email me. I need to make sure the conversion is working properly. I'll keep you posted.

I have the sylvania halogen xtravision's in my truck. They say they are 3 times brighter and have twice the life of a regular halogen. Compared to my old lights I would have to say they are right. For both it cost me $30 with tax.

I've got the conversion Church sells.
I don't see much difference on the low beam, but the high beams really light up the night. I don't want to mislead you, I'm definitely happy with the conversion. We'll see how things go after I get them aimed properly.

Most of the time the problem with dull factory headlights is the wireing.With 30 year old wireing you can end up with significant voltage drop by the time the power reaches the lights.
If you have a voltmeter measure the volts on the back of the alt.Then measure the volts at the light with the light on.If you have less than 12 volts at the light your headlights will be dull and not perform well. If you upgrade to a higher wattage bulb(H4,xeon,etc) the performance could be even worse than the orig. headlights. A simple upgrade to a pair of relays will get a full 12-14 volts to the headlights and the difference in the performance of your lights will be amazing! It can be wired like this.

I installed the conversion Church was talking about above yesterday .
The APC Headlamps and the H4lxc 60/55 watt Xenon bulbs. Took the wife for a drive last nite both of use noticed a big difference in brightness with both the low and high beams . Ist impressions I love them. Will take a pic today. Thanks Church
