71 K10 option and description help
I am in the middle of an original restoration on my 71 Chevy K10 SWB and I am having a problem finding information on this "SPECIAL PAINT" option. The fellow I purchased this truck from said it was a repaint of the original color, two-tone medium olive green in the center and white on the top and bottom. I have never seen this scheme from the factory before. Any advice on how to crack options numbers? Thanks.

I have never seen that scheme either, but it looks very cool.

Special paint means just that. Back in the old days they would paint it any way you wanted it. The person that ordered that truck specified those colors. The person typing up the SPID noted special paint because it didn't fit any of the factory specified combinations.

Very cool. Are you going to keep it that way? Are you looking for paint codes too?

Re: 71 K10 option and description help
I can't help with the question, but that is a cool truck.
Maybe I can help. Have you looked for the build sheet? That may have the paint info on it. They are generally in the springs of the seat, either in the bottom or the back.

Re: 71 K10 option and description help
Thanks for the kind words guys and yes I am going to keep it the same colors; if that is how it came from the factory. I am trying to keep this rebuild as factory as possible, right down vin options. This truck actually came with all the original paper work too.
That is a great fyi about looking for the build sheet 71SWB4X4. Thanks! |
