Flowmaster muffler info

this is for you guys needing exhaust systems in the near future. as a lot of you know, i've been doing exhaust work for many years-26 to be exact. flowmaster has come out with a less expensive version of their "40" series muffler,example-42443 is the number of the original muffler, the less expensive version is a KO42443. it's looks and sounds the same but is black instead of silver and is just over 1/2 the price of the original. i'm not selling them, just posting the info so you can ask your installer about them and save a few bucks.

that is the correct answer. i had not heard about these particular mufflers until friday when i was talking to one of our suppliers and he told me they pick them up at the factory when they pick up the regular order-they buy directly from flowmaster since the factory is only 30 minutes away from our suppliers warehouse. there are other companies that make copies of the original 40 series so i guess flowmaster decided to compete with them.

Re: Flowmaster muffler info

Yep, I bought some knock offs when I was in Kentucky - shortly after Flowmaster lost their patent- muffler shop had 2 cut open an original and this other one Imco or Timco or something? Identical at 1/3 of the cost. Sounded great, got lots of compliments- but no idea how long they lasted as I sold the Panel shortley after. Thanks for the info man, glad to hear they are getting cheaper!

Re: Flowmaster muffler info

we pay $26.00 less for the KO's compared to the "real" 40s. we charge anywhere from $450.00 on up for full duals with the real 40s. depending on the tips the customer wants-some tips are over $80.00 each-and the type of vehicle and pipe size, some systems hit the 700+ range. if we can reduce the price by 50 bucks and get the same sound and performance most people will be happy.

Re: Flowmaster muffler info

I have single chamber Imco's on my 67.
They sound great.
Appear just as well built as a fm. The cases feel like the same ga.Thickness As a fm.
Longajevity has yet too be seen.

I wanted it loud out the back of the truck and I got what I wanted.

I got them at a end of the day swap meet deal at Carlisle $20. A piece.
