Disc conversion

I was wondering if a 1994 rotor would fit on a 74 spindle. I have a 69 GMC, w/ 6 lugs. I have put a 74 front cradle on it, of course its five lugs. I was at the grocery store yesterday and saw a 1994 2500 2wd w/ 6 lug wheels! I looked up on autozone and they have the 6 lug rotors for the 94 for $66.99. It would be cool if it would work because I would not have change rear ends and wheels. Any input would be great.

I think someone maybe did something like this...its not very common. Maybe someone else knows more about this..

I don't believe it will. It seems that the half ton '73-'87 trucks used a 1" light duty rotor, and the one from an '88 and up are thicker and the bearing size and depth are all different.

But if you want to know for sure, go get one and try it out for yourself!

You can order from the aftermarket, 6 lug rotors that will fit your spindles, but they are another $60 each if I recall correctly.

You might just have better luck finding a '71-'72 5 lug rear and swapping it in. Just depends on what you want to run for wheels.

To put the 88 & up 6 bolt disc brakes on your truck, you will probably have to put your original cradle back under your truck so you can install a 67 to 70 3/4 ton lower a-frame. This way you can bolt up the later hardware. I copied this info from this forum and stored it for future reference. If you are interested in what I have on file you are welcome to PM me.

have your parts guy look up the disc from a 2500 with a GVW of under 7300 thats what I'm going to use

Thanks for the info. Hottrucks, that is what I looked the part under was the 7200 lbs. I will probally take a 74 rotor up there and compare the two. If not I might PM Bozo for the swap he was talking about.
