Finally, no rain...now....
We finally have a dry day down here. Cleaning up the firewall some today. Decided to fix the leaky exhaust manifold while the rust magic stuff drys. It's amazing how easy things break!! Both studs for the exhaust pipe snap off.
OK, off with the manifold so I can get easier access to the studs. things seem OK for a sec, then WAM, manifold cracks. Wisdom got the better of me then, so clean things up and say very agressive things to the manifold. Guess I'll be hitting some yards in the morning. Sute wish headers for 6's were as cheap as the 8's. Oh well. Ranting is done. Got more muck off it, but it looks same.

We are finally gettin some good weather here too now. Looks like your weather is a bit better than ours though...the stuff stickin out of the ground in your yard is green....still brown here though.
If you are unable to find a minifold, let me know...I might have access to one on a 71 GMC in a yard. I say might becouse they like to crush stuff there. |

Thanks Andy. Gonna hit a few yards in the morning and see if I can find one intact. I guess I can look at this on the bright side, with that side off, it'll be easier to clean and paint that side of the engine.

Those cast Fenton's aren't cheap. And the guys at Kansas Kustoms won't split a late model manifold, they say the iron is not weldable. So you're stuck with trolling the yards and hoping for one that isn't cracked as bad as the one you have.

Here in California, it looks like there is going to be heavy rain all throughout the weekend. Normally I love the rain, but I had planned on sanding down my truck this weekend

Well I feel I got lucky today. Found an exhaust manifold at my last choice of places a local pick and pull. Both studs broken off though. While checking on finding someone to drill out the old studs and put in new ones, a local muffler shop said she had one that she found in the junk stash that was in better shape. Definitely not as rusty, but the exhaust pipe studs were broken off too. Some one had put headers on something a while back...she can't even remember when it was. Anyways she was cleaning out things and gave it to me (cause I look so good I guess). Now it's off to the machinest during the week to get at least one set up right.
