classic chevy 1 ton

I am new to the site and need to pick some brains. I recently came across a 72 chevy 2wd 1 ton with tach, tilt, and air. It has a 402 motor and turbo 400 tranny, cheyenne interior and custom deluxe trim. It also has the longhorn box but is not listed as a longhorn on the original bill sheet. It was listed as a ZONE DEMO truck. If anyone can help me out in figuring what this might bu worth and how rare it may be please let me know. I really appreciate any help. Thanks

Re: classic chevy 1 ton

Longhorn was a model, not an option, and so it had it's own model number. The SPID would never show any kind of ben on any kind of truck, with the exception of wood floor on fleetside beds (not including the longhorn, it only came with a wooden floor)
I am curiouse on it being a custom delux with a cheyenne int??
Still sounds like an awesome rig... pics would be sweet

Re: classic chevy 1 ton

I'm curious what the "Zone Demo" is all about. I've never seen that. I can imagine it could have been a special truck intended for use as a demo amongst dealers of a region.Or,maybe some package I have never heard of like a "Texas" Longhorn edition. I'm just grabbin' at straws here.
Do the door panels have woodgrain panels or scroll inside the polished stainless trim? Custom Deluxes have the scroll and Cheyennes (and Supers) have the woodgrain (with the scroll hidden underneath). Is your seat vinyl with the same scroll or does it have cloth inserts? Custom Deluxes have the cloth and Cheyennes have the all vinyl.

To show pictures you hit "Go Advanced" next to "Post Quick Reply",Scroll down to where you see "Manage Attachments",click, and you will see 5 "Browse" boxes to click, which will bring up your pictures off your hard drive, click the picture, and click open, click "Post Reply".

Re: classic chevy 1 ton

here's the photos he sent me... The inside looks plain 'ole custom delux to me. The door panels have no woodgrain, the inst panel doesn't eighr, the pedals are without trim, the seat has been redone so no telling what it was.
The truck still looks well equipped. The e-mail said aftermarket cruise, I see an old school trailer brake controller, stock radio, A/C and tilt... It is in fact a longhorn too. The lack of badges on the bed doesn't mean much, they were glued on and most have fallen off many many years ago. The replacement bed that is on my C/30 longhorn right now, the badges were off of it for so long that you couldn't tell they were ever there.

Custom Deluxe ain't too shabby. Black and white is sharp! I see something attached to the turn signal lever. Nice truck.

Re: classic chevy 1 ton

That's what I figured,too.

It looked black & white too me. It never registered the interior makes it obvious it's Dark Olive. Still a very nice combo and cool options, like auxillary tank Custom Camper. I wondered if it could be a Highlander, but didn't all 3 levels get carpet? Other than the seat, wheels, and upper mirrors it looks pretty darned original.

Re: classic chevy 1 ton

If I were to get back into owning an old chevy again it would have to be a 4x4. Besides that, don't have the funds right now.
