Lightbulb Anybody ever run one?

Glass bowl fuel filter. I saw a 68 c-10 2-barrel with one in a book, and countless other 40's to early 60's car and truck pictures with them, and thought it had a cool old school look. Anybody running one?

Re: Anybody ever run one?

I haven't seen one on a 67-68, but I do have one that I nabbed from a 348 project I did. I too thought about using it on my burb, but like Zepp noted above I changed my mind.

Re: Anybody ever run one?

Thousands of vehicles run those cheap glass ones that advance/auto zone sell.....but I agree....it is a risk...

Re: Anybody ever run one?

I used to run just such a filter on my '57 Chevy 210 2dr sedan for the cool, old school look using a dual 4's '57 intake and Carter WCFB carbs. Looked great but after talking to several people and reading and thinking about the glass breaks=fuel spill=fire thing decided to go with a not so cool looking but most likely safer in-line throw away filter.

Re: Anybody ever run one?

I had one of those parts store glass filters and it shattered on me one day for no reason. Luckily no fire. Had a friend with the same kind and it did cause a fire. I wouldn't use them on a highly used truck.

Re: Anybody ever run one?

I never had a problem with a glass filer. Why would it break unless carelessly installed? Plastic doesn't crack? Neoprene doesn't dry rot? Carbs don't ever leak? With proper installation and care they are no problem. That said,I like the aluminum ones, like Russell, best.

Re: Anybody ever run one?

i had one that lasted about 6 months before it cracked. probably because of the engine heat, then cooling off, over and over again.

Maybe there's a reason the company's called "Killer Glass".
