man that was awesome!
just got back from driving the completed truck down the strip in town. It's awesome when you can see people's jaws drop and stare at you as you drive by! Finally, you get paint, and people respect the truck! Oh, and alot of people tried to race me, but it's too pretty to race...don't wanna mess the paint up...not to mention I have a miss. Gotta reset the timing :-)
Peace, Riley

I have to share this....
Along the same lines.....my best "first outing" was when I bought my Chevelle. Now I have included a pic for reference but I took it out during rush hour. I don't live too far from Microsoft so you see a lot of the Beemers and Mercedes... On my way back to the house I got caught at a light and stopped next to a guy in Mercedes wearing a suit. At the time the Chevelle had 3-1/2" open tube exhaust and Goodyear Eagle Slicks. The guy looked over at me and I thought he was going to faint. The Chevelle was shaking and the hood was rattling....it was one of the coolest moments in my life.... I am sure I will relive this once I get my motor done in my 71... So I gitchya....thats one of the things that makes it worth it....

One of my "first outings" was after I had put the 400 horse sb in my burb...and decided to drive it to the exhaust shop....with 3" open headers...
Well I needed to get gas, so I stopped at the local station about a mile from my house (I found out latter that my wife heard me turn her off and start her back up a mile away in my living room....lol) and filled her up. well a fifty gallon tank takes a while, so by the time it was done, everyone who had been there when I came in had left......needless to to say I scared the shineola out of everyone in the station when I started her up.....the gas station attentendants were still talking about when I left MN a year latter....they got a kick out of it.

Mine would be an exhaust story too! My exhaust is nothing fancy, in fact...it's almost nothing, thanks to rust! The pipes themselves, are no bigger than an average drinking straw, BUT with the strategically placed rust holes in the muffler, it sounds like I'm running open headers, at times! Some of the looks on people's faces......priceless!
Nothing like revvin er up, and chunks of rust tainted metal bouncing off the car behind ya!

I get stares and droppd jaws everytime I drive my Nova. With that really lopey cam and large exhaust turned down behind tires people love it. And since I am just some young 22 year old punk they get scared cause I am on the same road they are!!! grrr. hehe

What is really run is driving around with no hood. I recentley put a heater core in my truck, and i had to drive it into town to get some caulk so i could put the heater box back on. I figured that i didn't really need a hood, and i simply looped the heater hoses around to contain the coolant. It was cool to see people look at my nicley chromed, but mostly stock, 350. Some would laugh but most peered into my engine bay to see what i had.

hey, glad I could help you guys bring back memories! About the picture, I haven't had time to take any of the completed truck yet. I took it to town again Saturday night, and...yeah...once again, dropped jaws and tons of people drooling. I even had one black guy tell me it was the cleanest "very animated language" ride in Chickasha! It was awesome! I'll try to take some pics of it later this week so you guys can drool as well!

These stories remind me of when I first moved to Salt Lake City... I lived in Tucson, Az. all of 31 years, as you can guess, we didnt have a very big problem with snow. So I moved to S.L.C and didnt have a "snow beater" yet. So the first snow fall Im driving to work in my 94 Chevy truck. Mind you it sits very low to the pavement. So here I am "plowing" snow with my front bumper. I pull into a gas station and some racist dumb a@@ says, " why you drivin a lowrider in the snow?" First of all, I knew where he was going with this, but Im as Irish as they come, so I respond in my Cheech and Chong voice, " So I can cruise and plow snow at the same time". Well he didnt like that comeback and said something that wasnt quite audible, and hopped into his beat up F@rd Escort and drove away. As he was leaving, the attendant was laughing his arse off, and told me what a cool truck I have. I tell ya, some people are VERY narrow minded. I really hope he gets good gas mileage driving his piece "o" sh*t to and from work each day. Cause Im still cruising!!!!!!!!!
By the way, welcome from S.L.C. John
