Cup Holder!
I am sure this has been done so I thought I would ask you all, I want a Cup Holder in place of the Ash Tray, just using the stock Ash Tray face and get rid of the guts to the Ash Tray, But when Pulled out its cup holders. Anyone seen anything like this around or know what I maybe able to use in place of the ash tray.
Thanks in advanced

Re: Cup Holder!
Brothers Trucks sells a kit to convert the stock ash tray into a cup holder.
Check out their site.

Re: Cup Holder!
i use wood glue and some small nails, but i have recently added some small angles on top and bottom on the back were it slides in the ash tray hole. i don't have any pics of that. I will take some when i finish the one i'm working on now

Re: Cup Holder!
Thank you BP68 I searched the Brothers Trucks Site but seems they do not offer it any longer. but I think I got the idea and I will just have to search for the correct cup holders that will work for what I am wanting.

Re: Cup Holder!
John Fabris built one for his truck, I am sure if you find his build thread it will be in there.

I saw it on the Classic Industries Catalog at around page 70-72 for $70 dollars if you use your existing face plate.

I bought this cup holder, and made a bracket, and bolted it to the seat.

Re: Cup Holder!
88-94 Chevy & GMC Trucks Had Under Dash Cup Holders. IMO these would look better than the LMC / Brothers "plastic fantastic" one, plus these won't block your radio and heater controls. Here are a couple on EBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-94...Q5fAccessories http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy...Q5fAccessories More plastic fantastic stuff here....http://www.nextag.com/serv/main/buye...05459836315616 LMC has the same one as Brothers.... for about $10 less money. Re: Cup Holder!
Here it is in Year One's catalog. Upper right corner, there isn't a pic but sounds like the one that looks stock when closed. http://www.yearone.com/pco/C_0308/full.asp?page=48

Re: Cup Holder!
I guess if I had a good wood workshop I would consider making these for selling. But, as it is, I have a garage full of car/truck/house junk and barely enough room to squeeze in.
Still it's an interesting idea and if I do, I'll let you know. |

Re: Cup Holder!
I used a kit from Wes (classic heartbeat) and then I changed it up such that I welded studs on the backside of my dash to bolt the assemble on, and also saved my ash tray face (67 style) and glued that onto the front of the new cup holder assembly.
Can't find pictures right now, but if you want pict, pm me so I don't forget. Got a lot going on right now, and I am forgetting small stuff... |
