Factory guage options and conversion question
I have a newby question, I searched but couldn't find my answer.
I have a 72 K-10 and the spid does not list any gauge option. The gauge currently in the truck is a simple two gauge setup, speedometer and fuel gauge w/dummy lights in the middle section. It does have the under dash sun-pro gauge cluster as a nice aftermarket upgrade. lol There was a another gauge cluster in the trucks toolbox, speedo, fuel, ammeter, water temp and oil pressure. My first question is..what was the standard gauge setup on the K-10's? My second question is...how hard is it to upgrade to the 7 gauge cluster if the truck did not come with it. I thought i read that the water temp and oil pressure was mechanical so that should be easy to retrofit. Only the ammeter gauge would need special wiring. Is there a thread somewhere outlining the upgrade. If it's out there i could not find it. |

Re: Factory guage options and conversion question
Hey Davtay...
to the boards from NC..... There's a FAQ thread that has lots of great info here and in there I found this for ya to answer your 2nd question Hopefully someone will be here shortly to answer the first one I've seen on C10 trucks the 72 usually had 7 hole gauge setups....and only 67/68 had the 3 holers, but I'm sure someone will straighten me out if wrong

Re: Factory guage options and conversion question
Thanks a bunch, great thread. I need to do more browsing to find stuff like that.
I probably have an older gauge since the 7 gauge left in the truck had the oil pressure gauge missing. Probably doesn't work. I have a used 7 gauge coming. |

Re: Factory guage options and conversion question
I found the following, I'm not clear if the 4x4 (K-10) option added anything but it appears that 72 trucks came with the dummy light setup unless they included special instrumentation option(see page 7) here
