Re: How to remove gas tank...

Drain it, unbolt it, pull real hard? I'll be doing my tank next weekend, that is my plan for removal.

Re: How to remove gas tank...

I've taken a few out, but not on my truck YET.
Siphon it, then use a jack (transmission jack if you have one) to lower it enough to get to the fuel lines and anything connected on top or to close to the top to get to when its installed. Once its all unhooked you can lower all the way out. Super easy. On our cars and relatives newer truck I don't even take it out from under the car to change the fuel pump. Just leave it on the jack under the car, make the swap and jack it up.
Its an easy job, but make it easier and get someone to help you manuver it into place when you put it back in.

Re: How to remove gas tank...

If you don't have much fuel in it, you can use a bucket and just pull the hose off the bottom under the cab.

A few weeks after I got my truck, it stalled on the freeway on the way to work. I had a clog somewhere, so I drained the tank and replaced all the rubber fuel lines and blew out the hard lines with compressed air.

I used my Harbor Freight ball pump and siphoned what I could, then put a bucket under the cab and pulled the line off the tank from underneath. Worked out pretty well. You could just plug it, too.

Re: How to remove gas tank...

Disconnect the power at the battery. I pull mine out ,gas spilled when I was removing it from behind the cab, then the old wires were right there and started shorting like crazy. I had the key off. I'm still alive.
