Great-grandpa's old shop finds!
After my grand-dad passed away there was a auction for all his old junk, my uncle bid and won a space in a shop. This is now being cleaned so it can be burned, making the house look bad. Good news is the house was built in '49 for $9,000, and is now worth close to $100,000. The wife and I fixed it up with heat and air and all electric, plus it's bright colored and not dark and depressing. My grandpa and grandma where married there and sense we bought a newer, bigger house they moved in and my grandpa passed last year in that same room they were married in, in comfort and not a cold dark house. It's crazy how things work out. Anyways, I guess my grand-dad had a new '69 GMC 1/2 ton back in the day because I found insurance papers for 10/68, and I manual in good shape for I guess the '69 eventhough I never saw a year, just a pic of a 67-72 in that manual. I also found a gas ticket for 300 gal gas for $80, 27.9 cents a gal., in '69. Also other sweet finds were a large Pennzoil sign in great shape, old bottles/cans(Pepsi-Cola among others), Folders cans, and a little book that he wrote a little in(gave it to my grandma,, his daughter that lives in his house now). I like finding old things that were made and touched way before I was here. That book is a sweet addition to my '67 that my grandpa bought me as a second truck.

if construction is old wood planks you might try sell that antique wood for more money than you'll get by burning it

Re: Great-grandpa's old shop finds!
Well, I work at a shop for my uncle biulding semis from the ground up. I pretty much do what he says lol. The wood building are falling down around the junk, we were just hauling the metal off for scrap prices and I found some cool stuff.
Also, I have a old '69 Chevy stepside that was my grandpas that's good for some parts. What's cool is my uncle bought a Chevy that was said to be a '47 that he bought for $100 as a farm truck. He parked it 30 years ago for a bad starter, hey he gave $100 for it lol. What he didn't know is that 30 years ago after owning for 4-5 years(all guessing on the years), that I'd want it. So, he gave it to me and it sits out of the weather now atleast. I'll fix it one day, and it's a '49, no title but it's been around for 35 or so years. Posted via Mobile Device |
