Timing is everything and a little luck must have been on my side today,,,Went on a dump run today,,Guy backs up to me and tells me he has a tail gate that will fit my 67,,,Obviously he saw the big dent in it,,,,Come to find out he lives about 2 blocks away and had this tailgate in his garage.Very minor rust so I asked him how much he said 10.00,,,,,,,,,,I could'nt believe it so I gave him 20.00,,,for it,,,I always read how other board members some times score on parts for cheap and I think to my self Yea right ...Well I guess we do get lucky sometimes...Replacing tailgate this week,,,,,,,,,,,,,

always good to hear a story like that. I had something interesting happen to me last week. I was having some work on my bench seat. Replacing the nasty green cover with a black and white houndstooth one I got from somebody on the board. Unfortunately, the seat cover I was told had no holes had several. Well, this old gal who lives down the road from me does upholstery work so I took it there. Went to pick it up, it looked great. I asked how much I owed, she said, "well, it has got to be worth 20 bucks". I said thanks, take 30. Great deal.

No my truck is blue and tailgate is white hey who cares it is straight and alot nicer,,,Besides it goes with my style,,my wife calls me Jed........when I go to the dump and have the junk covered up with a tarp.........Wait aren't they coming out with a new Beverly Hillbillies Show.......Jethro maybe...........

I had a similar experience last week, but on a lesser scale. One of my hood hinges gave up the ghost last week, and I thought I was going to have to pay $45 for a new one. But as I was patroling the local bone yard I saw a 70 GMC breathing its last breath. I paid the man $10, sand-blasted 33 years of rust off, and it's like new.

I was driving in a neighboring city last weekend and spotted an old 72 in front of a house. Since it looked as though it hadn't been moved in a while I went up to the door and asked the older gentleman if it was for sale. He had bought a 95 silverado a few years back and no longer used the 72. He told me $600 would buy it. It needs some body work(front left fender, left side of the bed), but for that price I can handle that no problem. It has a 350 and 4 spd, power brakes and steering, factory rear slider, and that's about it for options. it was changed from a 4 barrel carb to a 2 barrel. It's a dark green with a white cab. Best deal that I've ever stumbled upon.
