hey everyone. i've got a 292 that needs a new intake gasket. other than the rusted bolts is it a pretty easy project? thanks for any info.

Re: intake manifold gasket
It usually is not a problem but can be. Often if a 292 has been run hard the ex. manifold will be warped. If it is you will have a hard time getting it back on. If the gasket between the manifolds is OK dont try to separate them because more then likely you will break the studs & bolt. If it has the laminated gasket on it know (it has a thin steel gasket on the ex ports & a different material on the intake) then you will have to separate them as you can not buy that kind anymore. The bolts should come out ok but I always replace them with grade 8 & flat washers.

Re: intake manifold gasket
exhaust gasket you'll know it,, it'll tick like a lifter most times,
intake spray carb cleaner around the gasket area, if the rpm changes you got a leak,, (i use a pumbers torch bottle ,but some thing thats unsafe) |
