Where is Chris Powell, Powell72?
Does anybody know what happened to Chris? I was thinking about changing my suspension up a bit and thought of his truck and his autocross win at Goodguys...searched and found that his last login was 9/28/10.
Whoops, meant to put this in the main forum..

Re: Where is Chris Powell, Powell72?
Hey guys, I'm still around. The last year has been a bit difficult for me, I've had a lot going on, divorce, a move, and all the fun associated with both. I've just been busy working, hanging with my dogs and keeping a low profile. But I'm still kicking, I still have the '72, it's still running like a top. I have just been driving it and trying to take care of it. I don't have the space to work on my cab so it's on hold. I'll do a better job of coming around here. I really appreciate everyone asking about me and hoping I'm well, this place is definitely like family.
I did manage to get another truck though- It's a bagged '96 GMC on 18'' Boyds, grey cloth with buckets interior, and a 5.7/auto/3.42 posi. The paint is incredible and I don't think anything's ever been in the bed! I got a screaming deal and I've been working on it to fill my time. Don't worry, I still love my '72!

I'm the father of Powell72 and here is the '53 he has spent many hours with me both in person and on the phone while I picked his brain for advice.

Re: Where is Chris Powell, Powell72?
Nice truck there,Mr. Powell. I'm curious what steering wheel you have in that truck. You see, just like Chris,I too have a steering wheel fetish
And Chris, about the divorce...I hope all is good with life now. Been there done that, not long ago. Better in many ways and harder in others. I figure it'll only get better, tho'

Re: Where is Chris Powell, Powell72?
The steering wheel is the original with the cracks filled with epoxy, painted black with a spray paint for plastic and then I buffed the horn button. The SunPro gauges are temporary until I can swing some 5" Dolphin or Omega.

Re: Where is Chris Powell, Powell72?
That wheel looks good! No need to change when the original wheel has so much style. You're doing that truck the way I like them...not overly modern. Pretty much the way it was always done. Don't change it into something else, just make what's there a little hotter.
