Which is better. in front of the rear tires or right out the back? Does it make much of a difference?

mine exit in front of the rear tire at a 45 deg. angle. They are hella loud with my 40 series, and I get alot more compliments on the exhaust. I think if you use turndowns out the back it is quieter, maybe. If I had to redo my exhaust, I would still go with in front of rear tires

The good thing about it is the pipe never does bend. It is just straight as can be. Instead of going over the axle and coming back down (alot more bend)

Where are your mufflers located? I was plannign on puttng them under the cab and then run the pipes to exit in front of the rear tires. Also....is your truck a leaf or coil rear? Mine is a coil rear and i was worried about the trailing arms getting in the way

In mu opinion, "exhaust should be heard and not seen" UNLESS IT BLOWS FLAMES!!!!! i jsut hate when you can see pipes, unless they're right behind front tire from a screamin big block, or out the back with 5 foot flames shooting out. but thats just me

3 or 3 1 /2 " stacks would sound nice too.....i dont know how loud they would be inside the truck. When i was down at the muff shop a few yrs back, we installed a set of stacks on a Ferd with flatbed. That 351 windsor sounded like a BB when the kid took off! That should solve the clearance issues with the trailing arms also.....crazyL

I had 3" coming out behind the rear tires with turbo mufflers under the cab and it was very loud. Now am going to run them in front of the tires due to new rear end (coil over setup). The louder the better if you ask me.

Are those chevelle tips on there miket cause they sorta look like it and sorta dont, hehe. Personally I know on Nova_cobra64's GMC they exit in front of the rear tire, and they are pretty nice there, sound awesome too. But mine are behind the rear tire and they look awesome there, then again mine is a 59 Chevy Stepside so... LOL Either way u choose they will look awesome, like come on, its a Chevy/GMC truck u could paint it pink with purple pokka dots and put ricer exhaust and it would still look/sound good. HAHA

I don't believe they are, but could be. I found them at Midas of all places and coincidentally, they had one but not the other and had to round up the second one somwhere here in WA. They apparently don't stock them anymore. However when my motor goes in (other post) I will be giving these the heave in favor of something different I think.

I thougyht I was going to be the first to say side pipes...and if you get sick of side pipes, you can always stnad them on end for the stacks that the little lady wants.

50 series Flowmasters
2 1/2 inch inlet, 3 inch outlet

I don't have any clearance issues with the trailing arms. I do (occasionally) scrape my mufflers across driveways. The muffler shop should have tried to tuck them up a little more.

I had a truck with dumps in front of the wheels on a short bed...........afected my engines running..............stretched them out back...........much better....whether they show or not....

Some of the muffler shops won't put them out the back because of the posibility of a shell being put on the bed and fumes going in...............

I have stock type muffler duals that exit just before the rear axel under the Fleetside box. I thought when I bought the truck that I would probably end up changing it but I find that it actually sounds pretty "raw and meaty" coming from under the truck. Not too quiet or not too loud but I like it.

I forgot to add that I dig the idea of Stacks on flatbeds. They are really the only type of pickup truck that can pull it off so you might as well.
