Question on backspacing

Im helping a friend with his truck, it has air ride, the problem is the front wheels are 22x8.5 and the fender is sitting on the wheels what backspacing do I need in order for the wheels to sit in more they are a three piece wheel and im going to send them back so I can ger the correct backspace,the truck has tubular a arms and bags , what other mods can I do to bring the wheels in? This is on a 97 chevy 1500, please help me out thanks

I'm bagged and bodied on my '95 Chevy. I have 22x9.5 wheels and 6.71bs so you'd be looking into 5.71bs.
