Angry Hit and Run last night

Well , as the title says my 87 was the victim of a hit and run....somebody was ringing the door bell at 2:00 in the morning ....and something tells me when somebody is ringing a doorbell at that time ....it's not good....so i just didn't answer it....30 minutes later it happens again so I just let it go ....then a cop does his patrol of the neighborhood and stops and gets out shines his flashlight around my truck and I open my front door....he asks " was it like this" and I replied how? And I walk over to see the left side tail light was smashed and the bumper bent ....and i look again...to see the truck was moved at least a foot away from where it was originally ....he writes up a hit and run report ...just not the right way to start the day....I'll post pics when I get home and see if y'all have some advice on fixin her ...

Re: Hit and Run last night

I dont blame you for not answering that door at that time of night. It could've been the driver, but its better to play it safe than sorry. I hope they come back to make things right. who knows, it could be a neighbor. I'd take a look at the neighbors vehicles later on.

Re: Hit and Run last night

If it was the person knocking, at least they had the decency to try letting you know about it. Ask your neighbors if anyone came to there house that night, the person could have tried a few other houses around yours, or, like already mentioned, it could have been one of your neighbors that hit it. That would make sense as to how they new where you live, and an understandable reason why they didnt report it if they know you and are willing to pay for it without the insurance issues (I like to think positive). Hope you figure everything out and get it fixed.

Re: Hit and Run last night

That sucks man! Hopefully you catch the person that did it. As said before, I would be keeping an eye on the neighbor's vehicles. Especially their friends. It happened to me a couple years ago when I had my 97 Z71. That guy was plowing snow and ran into the drivers side of the bed, folded it up pretty good. Unfortunately he had blue paint on the top right corner of his blade, OOPS!

Re: Hit and Run last night

Same thing happened to me a few years ago. Door bell going crazy at 2 am. You could do what i did and answer it with my krinkov. That heavy bolt with its "ching, clack" really deters most from wanting to start something. The guy in my case ran off so fast he didn't even say what he wanted. LOL

Re: Hit and Run last night

it almost looks like you MAY need to get a bed side, it looks creased right between the top body line and the bottom molding in almost a C shape. Not sure if thatll ever come out clean with just popping it back.

I don't mean to thread jack here, but just a quick question. Where would that emblem go? does anyone have a pic or link that i can see where it goes? i have the oportunity to get one for my 87, but i am usure where it goes or what it will look like once on there.

You can see the 2-way tape residue on the tailgate in the first pic.
