Thought I would be serious for a minute a post whore a bit while at it.
This forum kicks ass. I've made many good friends because of it. I met Chris (CaptKaos) on an old hot rod board I used to frequent in college, about 4 years ago. Not long after I met Mike (swervin ervin) somewhere along the way. I went to another board and met Dave (LOHRTBT). I followed my internet truck buddies here and met some more good buddies. I get to chat almost daily on AIM with Brandon (79BIG10) and Scott (BigRed). Just met another cool guy Gus (gusgreenwall) through the board. I got to meet Izzy (fiveeightchevy) and Paul (pkbinplano) a while back, very nice guys. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the crew soon!
My truck has been a very big part of my life for the past 8 years or so. I bought it my junior year in high school and immediately began customizing it. I run into people I went to hs school with and one of the first questions I get is if I still have my truck. Most people don't even recognize it anymore. When I moved 3 hours away to college, it was my truck that moved me there.
When I moved back home after college I ran into a hottie I went to hs with, she remembered going to lunch with me in the truck. I showed it to her and she didn't recognize it either. A little over a year later I proposed to her in my truck. I did it this way because she had confessed she fell in love with me late one night as we talked about life while sitting in my truck.
I identify with my truck because of all the work I have put into it. The countless hours shared with friends tearing stuff up and then trying to put it back together. Working on it late into the night and then realizing how cool our chicks are when they walk into the garage with hamburgers for us. Sharing time with my Dad as he shows me how he did things on Corvettes that I can do to my truck.
I plan on having my truck a very long time. Valerie has told me I'm not allowed to sell it. Fine by me. I figure I'll be one of the old farts at a cruise-in some day with my vintage truck that I've owned for decades.
Sorry to get sappy. I hope you guys can get the enjoyment out of your rides that I have from mine.

It is a cool board and very fun as well. posts like this make everyone realize it and enjoy each others ribbing and fun even more!

I am glad to have met the members I have and will continue to meet more ...very soon in fact!!

I hope that I can keep my truck forever but when I got it I told myself that I would be giving it to my son when he is old enough to appreciate it. So I have lots of time to get it just right.
I will own another of my own and look forward to customizing it as well.
Greg...your an alright guy !! Even if you wont help me move tomorrow!! lmao!

This is a great place for sure. I've met alot of guys from this and the other board and haven't met a bad one yet. I won't ever sell my truck for sure. I've had offers before and I just can't even think about selling it. It's apart of my family for sure. Besides the online family here would hate to see any of us sell one of ours off that has gotten so attached to the owner.

Greg, i know the feeling on everyone recognizing the truck, and remembering it from high school. i was one of about 4 or 5 Auto students in a school of 1500 preppy kids whose idea of working on a vehicle was taking it to Jiffy Lube. naturally, i would often come to school in shop clothes, so i got recognized everywhere in the halls. in the parking lot there were Camaros, Mustangs, BMWs, Mercedes... all the stuff that snobby little rich kids drive. and then there was my slightly rusty old orange truck with duals and cherry bombs. sure, it wasnt as nice as the others, but it was mine and i worked hard for it. when i roll into my 10yr reunion, i guarantee that i will be the only one there driving the same vehicle they drove to school... although she'll be black, sit a little lower, and a little shorter, i'm sure they'll remember her.

Greg, great post. I wish you the best of luck with the family & the truck. Congrats on the 1000 post mark too. When I got my truck I was in H.S too. All of my friends had the same style trucks.(73-87) When my reunion comes, I bet that I'll be the only one left that has the same truck too.

Also, thanks for adding help wherever you can. Its guys like you who post on this board, that have really made it successful.

Very cool thread, and I agree with everything said here 100%. This is a great board with a lot of great people.

I am a sophomore in high school, and hopefully I will be getting my 79 around Easter. I am going to customize it, and in the process I am going to learn a LOT as well. I really don't know a whole lot about vehicles yet, but the threads on this board have taught me a lot. If I ever have a problem, you can bet there will be several people here to help, they always help. I'd just like to thank everyone for making this such a great place and I hope we can keep it that way!

-Chris

P.S.- I am going to keep my truck forever...!

Chris, just so you know... a C10 is a 1/2 ton 2wd

C = 2wd
K = 4wd

10 or 1500 = 1/2 ton
20 or 2500 = 3/4 ton
30 or 3500 = 1 ton

1FaastC10, yes I know all of that. I am borrowing my dad's friend's C10 in the beginning of next month. Then, around easter, I will be getting *MY* truck, which is a 1979 K10. Hence my name. Sorry if I made my signature seem confusing.

-Chris

EDIT: Ooops, just noticed my mistake in my sig... should say C20... thanks for pointing that out to me! I'll change it right away.
