Cool 1972 GMC long bed custom

A friend of mine knows an older fella who has a '72 GMC custom long bed.. he bought it brand new and is wanting to sell it...he has no idea what it is worth, but I have a feeling he thinks its worth more than it is...it has original 350, automatic tranny, a/c (not working)' bed is in good shape, cab has usual rust spots...anyone have a clue what the value is...here is a pic...KD

if it's 100% original and unmolested and the rust isn't bad, i'd guess 1500-2000. it's not highly optioned and it's a longbed-even though i DO like longbeds, the value is lower. a lot of other factors would go in to my decision but the picture is hard to judge- how does it run? how much rust and where? how many mods if any? hows the interior? how does it drive and stop? i'm not trying to be a smart a$$ but there are too many variables to judge from one pic. keep us posted if you look at it or decide to purchase it. more pics too.

I agree with Jerry...usually a couple grand unless it's really loaded
or not so rusty, in the rust belt parts of the country.

Re: 1972 GMC long bed custom

From what I know about it I'd say the higher end of $2,500-$3,500 range. Original owner throws a few more bucks at it IMO. Unmolested...more. And,it's an A/C truck with all the trim.

Re: 1972 GMC long bed custom

and in some areas, 2000 will get you a parts truck, so adjust that figure a little bit if you are in one of those areas.

Re: 1972 GMC long bed custom

In California 2000 can get you a totally rust free loaded longbed...In your neck of the woods what do decent originals bring? I'd only pay 2000-2500 max for it, but it might be worth 4-5K to the right person.
