Scored this Truck for....FREE!
Well not ME, per say, but the Shop that's doing the work on my Truck.
The Owners Son, liked the stryle of my Truck so much, he wanted to start a Build of his own. This is a C-20 Longbed, that he is going to cut the Frame on to make a Shortbed out of it. When I asked him "How Much", he said he got it for FREE.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!
I wouldn't mind having that grill. That alone would have made it worth towing home for me.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!
Self made short beds cant bring that much money because there modded, that would scare me in buying a truck if the guy cut and rewelded the frame. If done right it wouldnt bother me but hard to tell unless you saw it done.

Ground Up Builds, Modifications, Restorations. After seeing his work, I would have no problem, trusting in his crtaft. I can understand someones apprehension, let's say if you were buying it off of Craigs List, and didn't know squat about the seller or who did the work. I asked him why he got a Longbed, (thinking that Shortbeds were too pricey and hard to come by), his answer was...."It was Free".

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!
Depends on your taste.
I'd take those "Problems", over a Longbed any day.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!
I would much rather have an original long bed opposed to a chopped up long bed with a bunch of options.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!
Bad fabrication
It taking forever so the "builder" gets careless and slops it together Funny looking because of wrong measurements When you go to sell it people seeing its not "original" and a modded frame among other things and sense theyll probably not know you and your work skills it would lower the value and will make people not want to buy someones elses nightmear and wont go for as much as if it were a nicely restored long bed that was not cut Problems down the road with the fabrication done because of not done right or properly Basically just all aroung the corner cutting and "just make it work" that tends to happen when doing things like this. Lets get one thing straight, not everybodys like that but after seeing the horrors of people buying trucks or vehicles that were "shortend" or modded in any way would scare most people to buy a truck like that unless there were step by step pictures of the progress and still then would be leary. Not everybody would slop something together like that but you never know anymore.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!
Trev: You can very easily find all of those "problems" with long box resto's as well. There will always be quality / hack builders out there.

Re: Scored this Truck for....FREE!
Nice score on the freebie. Sad to see another one get hacked up. I can't complain though, as secretly I have thought of having a short bed, but it would have to be a stepside. In my world short fleets would be verboten!
Good luck and make sure he joins so we can see build pics
