don't know if it'll help but in my build thread.. I show the steps..
his is the same idea just different gauges used..

the 2 1/16th gauges fit the lower four holes like they belong there..

look up in the build area mellow yellow.. (link in sig)
his has bigger tach and speedo so you'd have to open up those holes more than I did.. but you can get the idea with the pics in the thread..
I just got my glass back that covers the top three , as it needed to be buffed.
no pic of it installed yet

Re: I wanna see your in dash tachs

Thanks guys but I really wanna keep all of my gauges and try to keep a stock look just with a tach from another car or a aftermarket one that will fit in the stock hole and will look good

I bought a cheapo tach over the counter at the local Checkers so I could follow my cam break-in spec. When I had the 383 all dialed in I realized that this tach was cheap enough that I could attempt to pop off the lens and see if I could break it down far enough to tuck into my dash. Obviously it worked out.

Its been a while but I'm pretty sure the tach was well south of $50.

find a 82-84 t/a or 82-88 camaro..
the tach will come real close to a match and can be fitted in the stocker

Thanks for the props!
If you go to the search and type in "fibre optics" there's a thread in the electrical section that shows some of the back of the instruments.
It's actually a two mount system. The gauges are mounted to an aluminum plate, and the whole plate fastens to the bezel. The lower light switch on the right side controls the cab lights at first notch, and fog lights pulled all the way out.

The gauges are Classic Instruments. Give them a shout, they may have the plates in stock.
