New to the board 63 Chev
Howdy. I just picked this truck up over the weekend. There is so much information here. I've spend a couple days just checking out builds and threads.
I do have a question though. I have a friend that is scraping a 1980 1/2 ton and he said I can have the front end to upgrade to disc brakes and power steering and power brakes. I am thinking of just swapping the whole cross member. I have seen some people do that without problems but what I want to know is if I want to keep 6 lug wheels can I just change the rotors from 5 lug to 6 lug? Will that be a problem? What are the advantages of 5 lug VS 6 lug? And how do I add a picture? |

Re: New to the board 63 Chev
Welcome to the forum
As long as that truck has the 1.250" thick rotors you can buy aftermarket 6 lug rotors for thos spindles. There';s really no advantage other than you don't have to convert your rear end to 5 lug. If you haven't already check out this thread. Lots of front disc brake info in there...... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=367260 As for adding pics, if you want to upload them from your computer, just scroll down from the text box to where it says 'Manage Attachments' and click on that. Then click on 'Browse' and find your pic on your computer. If you have your pics on a hosting site you will use this icon at the top of the text box

Re: New to the board 63 Chev
Might want to check the vin on it. The grill is definitely not from a 63 but is nice. If you want a 63 grill I'll trade you mine. It's a little beat up but salvagable.

Re: New to the board 63 Chev
VIN should start with 3C1404 and should have a coil spring front suspension.

Re: New to the board 63 Chev
Yeah its a 63. The VIN is 3C1440146560. It looks like its been pieced together a bit. I think the grill is a 62? I can't wait to dig into it.

Re: New to the board 63 Chev
That is indeed a 1960 grill. The 1961 grill has chevrolet in the opening.
Nice project by the way and Keith |

Welcome from sunny and broke California.
That radiator looks narrow. I don't think it's the right one.
