what kind of wood for my bed
This is my fiirst car and first rebuild. i plan to be finished with the truck by may. i have a longbed 97'' and i have hade several ideas for what my bed wood will be: cherry oak pine and this is just a thought but trex. this truck will be more of a show truck. and one other option is the really old wood from old barns and houses that has the nail holes and it just very uniuqe because its so old 100+ years old in some cases but not all the wood matches. what sound good here is a drawing of my truck and how it will look in the end so you can get a idea of what would look good for my bed.

Oak and cherry are nice, but Cedar is my favorite. Smells fantastic in the sun and is resistant to bugs and weather.

Oak is very durable. It's the most popular hardwood.

Re: what kind of wood for my bed
I am doing Douglas Fir for mine. Should have a nice red color to it and it is a really stable wood as far as shrinkage as it dries. Just one more idea for you to think about.

Re: what kind of wood for my bed
My brother milled some pine. He stained it dark, but that's his style.
