Has anyone changed your front wheel lugs out?

I am going to attempt this but have never done it before. The old ones are original and pretty chingered up. Is there a trick to it, or is it just pounding them out with a BFD? Do you need any special tools? It's a '67 with drums, if that makes any difference.

You are talking about the studs right? I just pound them out.

It's easier with the hubs off, because you'll need to drive the new ones in and make sure they are seated as well. Some folks pull the new ones in place with the lugnuts, but I've never had good luck with it.

The easy way is on the shop press, but if you don't have one of those, a 3-pound sledge does a quick job of getting them out. To install new ones, you can just pull them in with a lug nut, but I would use a small stack of washers under the nut (2 or 3 should do) to make sure it's completely seated.

Another trick is to push the studs through the hub and a steel wheel and tighten the lug nuts down.
