Where can I buy American made PARTS?
I'm wanting to re-build the suspension but want to be sure I get ALL American made parts, is there any one place I can buy or a particular brand I can order, that I'm assured the parts are made in the good ole USA?
Thanks! |

Re: Where can I buy American made PARTS?
THANK YOU!!! I'm also trying to do my truck build with everything that is made in the USA... including tools and expendables.
It's difficult, but keep up the good work! I'm anxious to see what answers you get here.

Re: Where can I buy American made PARTS?
Sadly allot of the good old American company parts are made in Mexico. Some would even re-box the parts here. Nice trick huh. You may have to choose your favorite third world country.
Here is a pic of the store I use for all my American made parts. (Slightly used) EDIT: Or should I say "Thoroughly tested for quality assurance." Last edited by Torrey72; 04-04-2011 at 06:55 PM. |

Re: Where can I buy American made PARTS?
I agree with the above, your local junk yards or where ever you can find a desent yard. Original parts are your best bet. I have had good and bad luck with other than American made. I just make it a point to look over my part in person anymore before I buy them. Good Luck. OH YEA, one more thing, there are some really nice original trucks out there/here unmolested and no rust that you can pick up for cheap. The 72 Longhorn I bought last May still has the A/C working in it and it is all original except the rims. It has 16 vise 16.5 rims on it. I am third owner.

Re: Where can I buy American made PARTS?
You have to be really careful. I've opened boxes that say Made in USA and found Japan or Taiwan or Mexico stamped on the parts.

Re: Where can I buy American made PARTS?
You know. I wonder how much of any given part from Japan or Mexico was partially manufactured in China or Taiwan. How's that for the worlds worst scenario.

Re: Where can I buy American made PARTS?
NOS parts or used originals are almost the only way to guarantee made in the USA if you are holding to that principle.
As mentioned, many parts that are advertised Made in USA might have been assembled or just boxed here.... Mark-K has american made trim and bed parts. Some foam for the seats and covers are made in the USA... ...but not a lot else....

Re: Where can I buy American made PARTS?
Manufacturing in the United States is gone and it's not coming back. Ever.
And it's no one's fault but our own. |
