Replace entire rear brake system

Long story short here - My brother just bought a 99 Silverado with Disc brakes all around. And now he's found out that he has no rear brakes and his calipers are seized in the rear. So he needs to do an all around replacement of the rear brakes - Calipers, rotors, pads...

I trust that he can do it on his own if he has a step by step tutorial (maybe with pictures?) guiding him. I gave him a basic rundown on the phone just now of how one would go about doing the front brakes, but I've never done them on the rear before.

I searched google and the forum but could not find a tutorial on replacing everything. My short phone tutorial may have been good enough, but if there are any gotchas to the job, please let me know asap so I can pass the word along to him. He's planning on doing it tomorrow.

Thanks guys.

Re: Replace entire rear brake system

I don't have any pics, but the rear brakes are pretty simple. Does his parking brake work? He might as well do the parking brake shoes while he's in there if it doesn't. If he creates an account on Autozone's site (free) they have a pretty good how-to under repair guides.

Re: Replace entire rear brake system

I tried to find a how-to on autozone but couldn't. I'll have another look over there. Looks like he's going to do it tomorrow instead. I'll mention the parking brake to him when I talk to him.

Thanks for the info.

You need to create an account there to access them. Heres a link http://www.autozone.com/autozone/myz...ipBenefits.jsp

Re: Replace entire rear brake system

I have an account there already...I'm just an idiot. Was looking up repair stuff for my wife's car instead of his truck.

Found it this time around and sent the info to him.

Thanks again..
