Picture Request - 6.2 Diesel Cruise Control Mounting

Like to add Cruise Control to my CUCV with 6.2 J code. Need the engine parts/brackets and hardware pictures showing how the servo is mounted to the engine, linkage to the throttle, and the vacuum ball location and plumbing.

I have the majority of the gasoline engine cruise parts but didn't know if there was 6.2 specific mounting brackets and linkage.

Will also need to know where the cruise module mounts inside.

Any pictures showing mounting and linkage would also be very helpful as I continue to look.

Step 1 done (tilt wheel is installed)

I have a WTB ad posted as well.

It sure isn't going to be a CUCV if it has cruise control lol!

It won't be right if I get A/C either, but that won't stop me from trying...Does your 86K30 have cruise or A/C either one?

I just got back from doing a Security+ class in Savannah GA and there was a 4 door CUCVIII Tahoe on the base...I'd trade even up for my M1009 and my Yukon right now

I drive the M1028a1 bone stock, no radio, no a/c, no cruise, the 83 K30 dually is bone stock except for an AM radio, my ex US Army C&C ex firetruck now dump is bone stock also. NOTHING whatsoever wrong with creature comfort upgrades though!

Re: Picture Request - 6.2 Diesel Cruise Control Mounting

My last 2 Civy trucks (89 S10 Yukon and 98 K1500 Yukon) have been loaded and the Burbons and Yukons I was driving in the desert made me pull the trigger on the 03 Z71 Burban in 2004 when I got back...its hard to give that up.

Even the 6 Super Duties and K3500 we have at work now are all A/C and AM/FM radios the Chevy actually a loaded Silverado except no cruise and has a rubber floor mat. Basically all blue GSA trucks the USAF purchased...

But my REGULAR work truck is the 06 K3500 with A/C, AM/FM CD, 4wd, auto, (toolbox on wheels) and it brings home all the others. Great tow vehicle.

Re: Picture Request - 6.2 Diesel Cruise Control Mounting

The cruise bracket is diesel specific and bolts to the side of the IP. Don't happen to have a photo but if I get out to the barn I'll get one (got a spare on the shelf). The servo looks to be the same but may have a specific link. Wiring and vacuum run in the LH engine loom. The module goes under the dash, signal switch on stalk, cruise has its own brake switch and bracket. I belive these are common with gassers. You must have a vac pump. Not sure but depending on year the speedometer may need to have the buffer (IIRC that's for 88-up with stepper motor cruise). Do you have the civilian wiring diagram? It's a great help with these.

Re: Picture Request - 6.2 Diesel Cruise Control Mounting

D13,

That would be great and thanks for the info. I do have a 87 and 91 Wiring Diagram manual so between the two can hopfully figure it out once I get the servo bracket and linkage and lay it all out on the bench.

If your 87 has cruise would you mind taking a picture of it mounted.

Sure, but it's almost impossible to see the details on the truck (mine's got AC and there's awhole bunch of stiff in a small area).

Re: Picture Request - 6.2 Diesel Cruise Control Mounting

Good pictures...thank you

Is the linkage a piece of tubing and flat stock on the ends to catch the mounting on the IP and servo?

Re: Picture Request - 6.2 Diesel Cruise Control Mounting

He beat me to it! Wow is that clean!
The servo mounts to a stamped bracket that bolts to the side of the UP and has a tab that goes under the IP mounting bolt at the bottom.
The servo link is kind of unique plastic part (yellow in the pictures). it goes over a stud on the IP lever.
The tab on the bracket with the round hole is where the throttle cable comes in.

I've got some off the truck pix that show that a little better. Just lost my email but should be up and running tomorrow.
