Slotted Mag Center Caps??

When I put my Slots on my '87 the center caps I got off ebay were a plastic reproduction. They fit awesome, till i put them on the truck. Then I noticed that the hubs were to big and pushed the centercaps out about 1/4". Has anyone else run into this? Is there a fix? I tried looking for a different cap but no luck. i'm thinking that I should cut of the tabs and leave about a 1/4" left on for centering and run a small bead of clear silicone to hold them on?

Re: Slotted Mag Center Caps??

I haven't started looking for caps for mine yet. American Racing has a screw on cap, but you would have to drill and tap 5 small screw holes on each wheel. Depending on the size of the center hole, there are some universal metal ones that may work as well. What brand are the wheels?

I had the same problem a while back with a set of Supremes. I ended up cutting the tabs like you say and I used a small drop of Liquid Nails on each "half-tab". Never lost one... worked for me.

They are E/T Slots. I would like to use the screw on ones but to line it up perfectly would be next to imposible....Cause we all hate "cap wobble"

Re: Slotted Mag Center Caps??

You could always run without caps, that's how the slots on my '87 are.
