NOS vs Aftermarket?...

Im needing to buy a driver side window regulator, mine is completley shot. LMC and brothers sell them for about $40 give or take. A guy near me has a NOS regulator and is wanting $150 + $20 shipping. Is the NOS worth the money? obviously quality is an issue, but how much difference is there? or is it better to just go with the aftermarket and use the money somewhere else?

Re: NOS vs Aftermarket?...

Why not support the guys here and buy a nice used one? Its not like you'll notice a difference betwen NOS and a good used one assuming its in great shape.

Re: NOS vs Aftermarket?...

Quality on the repops varies. I had one form Classic Parts give up the ghost after 2 years. Got one from Classic Heartbeat that seems to be doing a lot better.

Re: NOS vs Aftermarket?...

I would also consider a nice used one. I am getting a few bead blasted right now. Have some on the way to me now. Make sure you get the correct one for your truck as 67-71 use shorter shafts than 72's.

The beadblasted one will be just as nice as NOS and I'm going to be using one set in my truck and then selling the others for around 80-100/set depending on year and overall how they look. Will be better than repops and a savings over NOS....

Re: NOS vs Aftermarket?...

Food for thought - for a bit more you could have electric windows. I added them and they are real nice to have - especially doing the passenger side with no co-pilot.
